Schooldays in Stillorgan

Staff Memberschool

Kilmacud Stillorgan Local History Society’s new publication Schooldays in Stillorgan was written by committee member Margaret Smith. The book tells of the determination of local people to establish a national school in Stillorgan village in the 1830s. The school was located on what is now the Old Dublin Road and later moved to its present location in 1931. Since then it has grown to meet the needs of the expanding suburb.
The book contains interviews with past pupils, teachers and others associated with the school. It also casts an eye on the changes that have taken place in Stillorgan. You might be surprised to find yourself in one of its large
collection of photographs.
The book is now available for purchase. Please contact 01 2882486 , the school office or e mail school at stlaurencesbns@outlook.ie to purchase a copy. The book costs 15 euro and all proceeds go towards St Laurence’s
School.
