5k Run for LauraLynn

Andoni OConchubhairevents

LauraLynn is an amazing charity in Dublin and helps support so many families who have children with life threatening illnesses or families who have lost children due to these illnesses.

LauraLynn is the only children’s hospice operating in Ireland. Every year they need to raise around €5.5 million to support the charity and due to the pandemic their fundraising efforts have been severely affected. Our school is down the road from LauraLynn and our teacher decided to try to raise some money to help support the charity by doing a class 5k run.

Every Thursday we would walk up to Clonmore Park and train harder and harder every week until the final day. When the final day came we had already raised over six thousand euro for the charity and everyone was ready to run hard for their five kilometres. When the last boy crossed the finish line we burst out with joy, all of our training was worth it. We received our medals and everyone felt very proud of their achievement. LauraLynn is an amazing charity and we are expecting that our school will run for a charity like that every year.

On behalf of all the boys in 5TH Class I would like to thank our teachers Mr Mullins and Mr Canny, coach Maria and her husband John, who helped on the day, and our principal Mr Moran. We would also like to thank all of the people who sponsored us and helped raise so much money for this great cause.

Míle buíochas ó chroí.

Cian Dunne, Fifth class.
